According to the Data Governance Institute, “Data Governance is a system of decision rights and accountabilities for information-related processes, executed according to agreed-upon models which describe who can take what actions with what information, and when, under what circumstances, using what methods.”
The concept of data governance refers to a set of rules and means applicable to the use of data, based for example on sharing mechanisms, agreements and technical standards.
It presupposes the existence of structures and processes enabling data to be shared securely, in particular via trusted third parties or dedicated tools.
